We Want You... to Review!
So, you want to become a member of the Smart-Popcorn.com Review Team? ...or, you're curious as to who can join and why?
Who are you looking for?
We're looking for people who:
- Love to write
- Love to speak their mind
- Love seeing movies and do so on a regular basis
- Are unafraid to be opinionated, yet...
- Are respectful of others' opinions as well
- Are willing and interested in growing as a writer and film enthusiast
Most of all, we want people who want to help build a strong, enjoyable online community.
What are my expectations if I join?
We'd like our critics to submit one review per week. You can write about mainstream movies or indie/art house films, new releases or decades-old classics. As our saying goes, "We review for everybody!" You can even review a movie that we've already reviewed--in fact, we encourage it. We also expect our staff members to actively participate in our forums, and to communicate with our editors on a regular basis. If you plan to be offline for long periods of time, please let us know in advance.
What do I get in return?
First and foremost, we offer you a place and opportunity to speak your mind and be heard. As of yet, we cannot promise much else. We are still very much in the process of building & expanding.
However, depending on your location and other variables, we'll try best to provide (or to help you obtain):
- Press passes to screenings
- Early showings of films
- Staff Member of the Month benefits
- Press access to festivals
- Promotional items
- ...and much, much more in the future
Help us grow and we will gladly share these rewards with you.
I'm not a film critic. What can I do to help?
We're always on the lookout for good artists, programmers (PHP/MySQL), and anyone else who can bring special skills to the Review Team. As there's no "automated" process for these roles, your best bet is to announce yourself on the forums, and provide us with some insight as to your abilities.
