If you liked Gattacca, you'll be sure to enjoy at least some aspects of Code 46. Winterbottom integrates ethical explorations into the plot in much the same way Niccol did, and the aesthetics are fairly similar in tone and general intention.

Fantastic. Will make note of it. I'll never catch up on all the movies I need to see _________________

Your list of buzzworthy movies you made at TTB frightened me. I dunno how I'll see even 75 percent of all those. |

Yeah, every year gets so busy... and then what I usually do is buy/rent them in bulk and lock myself in a room for a week watching them all. It's like the ultimate marathon. I'm a movie hermit during that week. People have to slide food under my door, and I nibble at the crumbs. _________________

Yeah...I pretty much watch 75 percent of what I WANT to watch (stuff I'm really psyched about) during the year, and then catch up on rentals that I think might be oscar worthy a month or so before the big show so I can formulate a solid opinion. |

It's too bad you live in NC, or I'd invite you to the huge Oscar party I throw every year. _________________

I've made it a point to watch a minimum of 300 movies a year and now that I work at Blockbuster part time and go to school for film (where you just kinda watch movies in every class), that goal is well within my reach and so I'm thinking of upping it to 400. _________________ Playing the world's smallest violin while nothing burns. |

Well either way, during the Oscar Party we've got the big 63 incher playing during the whole thing, from 12 noon until the end of the post-Oscar commentary. But this year I was going back and forth between the internet and the party, as I tried out that huge Oscar Prediction contest with all of TTB. We actually had really good participation, if I remember correctly. We were one of the biggest groups on the board, and we did really, really well collectively. _________________

Yeah I was there...I did modestly. Started off strong..petered off at the end. Meh. I'm not much for predictions...just my personal prefs. |

The trick for me was that two weeks before the whole thing, I spent literally hours whoring every prediction website I could, comparing the results and odds, and then making my final prediction. Almost every prediction website had Destino and Capturing the Friedman's for the win, so I put them down. If I would have got those, I would have actually won a prize. _________________

Yeah, I figured you played the odds. I know the Academy fairly well after years of watching it, but they still always surprise me (sometimes pleasantly, often in outrage). I think one of the ones you got wrong I actually got right.
But yeah...I sat down that night expected RoTK to do very well...but I had no idea it would fucking sweep. I couldn't believe it. |

Yeah, same with me. I had no idea ROTK would sweep. I had such little confidence in a sweep that I actually forced myself to predict OTHER films for some of the minor awards, just so I felt I had a better chance at spreading the odds. _________________
