Whedon also wrote every line of dialogue for Speed and did an extensive rewrite. Original posters actually have him credited as the writer, but then the Writers Guild and Graham Yost got into it and even though Whedon wrote EVERY line of dialogue, he received no credit. He also wrote and structured Toy Story from very early on and did about 40-50 percent of the writing, though he didn't complain at all when John Lasseter wanted to credit every animator that had an idea for the film. Perhaps this says something about Whedon.

*admitted Whedon-ite*

I downloaded the podcast to my iPod this morning and took it to work. I liked this episode a lot because you all seemed to work off of what each other was saying more than in some of the previous ones where one person would talk for a long time and everyone else would just sit there quietly. The interaction was good-- and the candid part over the music at the end was my favorite Smile

i will say its really hard to be as "impromtu" as one likes when one of the other people on the podcast is only 3 feet away from you and whenever you turn your mike on, if they're talking, they get picked up on your mike as well.

So this last podcast probably just worked better (in your opinion) because there were more people and only half had to worry about the other picking up on their mike.

Even so, there isn't that much difference. This one is just much longer with more people.

Well, that won't always be the case. We already know that Episodes 6-7 won't have the both of you in on it, and as I've said from the get-go there's no requirement that you and Ray both (or either one) have to be involved. If it's easier & better for the two of you to trade off, we can do that.

I dunno, I think she might be onto something. Most of the news stuff at the end (Spider-Man, Don Adams) was unplanned, and I think that was probably our peak fun spot there (save for some of the Serenity discussion which itself treaded off the planned path). We've been planning the casts as turn-taking (much like Ebert & Roeper, though certainly looser) when I'm thinking maybe it needs to be more of a casual debate format. I think Laurie's impressions here on Episode 4 better express what I was trying to get at in the other thread. The more the discussion is "open", I think the more fun to listen.

Thanks for the feedback, Laurie! Smile

It wasn't because there were more people necessarily, but it really felt like you all were having more fun together. When someone had a differing opinion, it seemed they felt more comfortable about jumping in and say so instead of letting one person go on and on. Maybe it was because you all seemed to have a lot to say about the topics this week. I didn't mind that it was longer though. I also listen to the Ebert & Roeper podcast every week too and I think theirs is a little rushed and they brush over a lot of stuff, so yours is better in that respect.

I completely understand your issue with the mic though. Neutral

I think that's because we all took the time to really talk and we were comfortable with each other.

But yeah, the mic sucks and no, it doesn't mean Ray has to stop doing casts at the same time. We just have to figure out a better solution.

I forgot... can we edit that background stuff out?

Only to a degree. That's why I used a headset mic.

That's what both Ray and I use, so we can just use the little switch to mute whenever we have to.
