Hello everybody,
My name is Eric, and as my nickname says I am a DVD Fanatic. I have loved watching movies and great TV shows since I was old enough to speak. At the age of five, I was upset that Chewbacca wasn't awarded with a medal at the end of Star Wars. I loved that this issue was remedied decades later.
When the high priest pulled the beating heart out of a man's chest in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, I was shocked by the visual, and I was also surprised when a new film rating was put in place after that film. I was also irritated that it was put in place months before I would become a teenager. I was not allowed to see Gremins or Dreamscape by myself, but I went to see Ghostbuster at least 20 times in the theater.
I had an uncle who owned a Laser Disc player, and I thought it was an amazing technology. I never got around to buying one for myself, and even when the first DVD player hit the market, I still waited two years before buying one. I still have that orginal RCA model, and I have bought several since then, including a VCR/DVD combo, a DVD-R burner combo, and even a portable DVD player for airplane trips.
My collection started small (less than 20 DVDs), and since 1999, it continues growing closer and closer to 1000 different titles. It is something that I just love to have and watch. I started my own Web site (www.reeldvdnews), and I like to contribute to other sites as well.
That is what made me decide to join this site. I have read the requirements for writing reviews, and I am planning to submit some over the next few weeks. I will work to be a regular contributor and reader in this community, and I am looking forward to talking and sharing with everybody.
Sincerely,
Eric M. Croas (DVD Fanatic)

Welcome aboard, Eric. Always good to have another person who's passionate (err... fanatical) about movies.
One tip: make sure you don't forsake your own site when you start writing here. We've got plans for a new division of SMART-POPCORN.com that'll give everyone considerable exposure to their own websites and spread the use of the SP two-scale Review System as well. Good stuff. Dunno when it's coming, but it's on the table. |
