Hey guys, sorry for not being a part of this great site lately, I've been editing my novel. It's been taking so much time (my editor is a total tool) that I haven't had time to go see any movies. The last movie I saw since the Hulk was Underworld (both reviews will be coming soon). So, just for the record, I'm looking forward to jumping head first back into the movie scene.

Hey, ol' Iron Paws! Good to hear you're back! As you can see we've got some new blood here at the site, but the pace of reviewing is still pretty relaxed. I'm overhauling the entire site, inside and out, and once I get that done I think we'll really hit the ground running. But for now, any reviews you can get in would be swell.
It's also great to hear about your novel. I don't believe you've shared with us what it's about... You should keep us in the know, especially when we can buy our copies!
I'm not sure who all knows about this--probably not many of the critics we've added in 2003--but I have my own creative pursuits. I am a filmmaker. (At least, that's what Robert Rodriguez suggests I say, rather than "I want to be a filmmaker". ) Hopefully over the next six months or so, between adding site automation and developing a loyal crew of editors and critics, I can phase myself out of site upkeep a bit. Also during that time, I hope to use Smart-Popcorn as a selling point to get some freelance web design work and start saving up for a $10,000 shooting budget. (I'll probably buy my camera once I've saved $2000, get some practice with it, and perhaps rent it out to others while I continue saving.)
I hope, by this time, SP will be a well-oiled machine and all you kickass writers won't need me around very much. I hope it won't seem like I'm using you to my benefit... Mostly, I hope with this site to allow would-be critics (like Donnie and ReelMonkey) to pursue their dreams, and to provide a friendlier, more useful alternative to most established critics. Meanwhile, my dream lies behind the camera, so that's what I'm shooting for. |

Welcome back to the site Iron Paws, it's good to have you back. And also good to meet you in the first place. It's very cool to hear that you're writing a novel. I have a short story going (could be a novel, too early to tell), but I have a huge procrastination problem and nothing ever seems to get written. If you have any tips on how to overcome this it'd be greatly appreciated.
I'm glad that you're keeping the site alive Thom, and how great would it be if we can critique your filmmaking debut one day? I look forward to it.
