I just watched a really great movie. It's called Brick, not sure if a lot of people have heard of it or not, I stumbled on to it a while back on the net, but never heard or saw any real promotion for it. But regardless of all that, it's a great movie.

I'm going to put a review up for it later, but all I'll say for now is it takes the film noir genre, and puts it in a high school setting, all the while never losing anything from the genre that it comes from. So go add it to your netflix queue, or go to Blockbuster or whatever and rent it. Then come back here and tell me what you think, and I'll try to get this review out later on today.

I really disliked this film when I saw it in the theatres. I expected it to be so much better. The whole Noir thing in a High School setting was just stupid.

I didn't have any expectations when I watched it myself, personally I dug all the archetypes of the noir genre just put in a different setting, thought it was very well done. Though the scene when he's talking to the vice principal which would normally be the chief of police or whatever in a normal noir movie was kind of silly.

Very smart, savvy picture. The dialogue is witty and the acting is surprisingly good. I like the choices that kid from Third Rock From The Sun has made since he escaped television.
