It seems odd to even ask the question 'what are you seeing this weekend' given the release of one of THE blockbusters of the fall. OO7 returns this weekend in Casino Royale and though it is expected to be one of THE blockbusters of the fall, there are obstacles this weekend.
Don't get me wrong, Bond and Casino Royale will be number one this weekend. The question is how much of the younger demo will blow off Bond for another helping of Borat. The repeat biz on Borat is big biz and could take a small chunk out of OO7.
Families will be making an impact at the box office this weekend with the release of the highly anticipated CG penguin musical Happy Feet. The marketing has been pretty terrific thus far for Happy Feet, the film has produced some of the most entertaining and eye catching trailers of the year. With Santas Clause 3 and Flushed Away each in their third weekend, Happy Feet should have smooth sailing to the number 2 slot at the box office.
Then there is the oddball of the weekend Let's Go To Prison. Directed by the brilliant comic Bob Oedenkirk, Prison is not being shown to critics and is essentially being dumped onto maybe a thousand screens. Why now? Who knows but don't look for Let's Go to Prison to make much noise at the box office this weekend.
